The complete guide

The B2B outbound tech stack, layer by layer

Most outbound advice covers one tool. This covers the whole stack — what each layer does, what it costs at list price, and where the money leaks. Every layer links to a deeper guide.

The short version

  • • Five layers: targeting → enrichment → sending infrastructure → deliverability → staying within the rules.
  • • Most teams overspend on layer 01 (a tier they don't need) and underspend on layer 03 until something breaks.
  • • Seat cost dominates once you scale — a per-seat gap that looks trivial at five mailboxes is a real line item at fifty.
  • • Nobody can sell you deliverability. Correct setup is table stakes, not an edge.

01

Targeting — deciding who to contact

Before infrastructure matters at all, you need a defensible list. This is where Sales Navigator and Crunchbase live: one tells you which people, the other tells you which companies. Most teams overspend here by buying a tier whose collaboration or CRM features they never open.

Typical list price: Sales Navigator Core $119.99/mo · Crunchbase Pro ~$49/mo annual

02

Enrichment — turning a list into contactable records

A list of names is not a list of addresses. This layer fills in the gaps and verifies them. It is also where most wasted spend hides: paying for enrichment credits against records you were never going to contact, because step 01 was too broad.

Typical list price: Varies — usually credit-based

03

Sending infrastructure — the mailboxes themselves

Cold email runs on real mailboxes on real domains, not on your sequencer. This is the layer people discover last and regret most, because getting it wrong means everything upstream lands in spam. Seat cost dominates the budget here once you scale past a handful of mailboxes.

Typical list price: Google Workspace Business Starter $7/user/mo annual

04

Deliverability — earning the right to be read

Authentication, warmup and domain hygiene. Nobody can sell you inbox placement, because placement is decided by what you send and how people react to it. What you can buy is correct setup, which is table stakes rather than an advantage.

Typical list price: Mostly time, plus warmup tooling

05

Staying within the rules

Every platform in this stack has limits, and the fastest way to lose an account is to treat them as suggestions. This matters more on LinkedIn than on email, because a restricted LinkedIn account takes your network with it.

Typical list price: Free — but expensive to get wrong

Where we fit, stated plainly

We sell discounted seats for several tools in this stack, so we are not a neutral party and you should read us accordingly. We are an independent company and not an authorized partner or reseller of LinkedIn, Google or Crunchbase. Where an official programme beats what we offer — Google's nonprofit programme, LinkedIn's veterans programme — the guides above say so and point you there instead.
